About Colorado Choice
Colorado Choice Health Plans was incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1972 under the name of San Luis Valley Health Maintenance Organization and is licensed and regulated by the Colorado Division of Insurance, “to engage in the business of health care service delivery under the provisions of the Colorado Health Maintenance Organization Act.” From its inception, the company delivered health care services in the San Luis Valley; covering Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties only.
We changed our name to Colorado Choice Health Plans in 2006 as we expanded our licensed service area outside of the San Luis Valley. Since that time, we have seen constant growth and now serve 30 counties. We have also significantly expanded our lines of business from initially serving fully insured businesses to now providing coverage to some of Colorado’s largest businesses through our Third Party Administration of self-funded groups, Medicare beneficiaries, kids entitled to CHP+ and most recently individuals and their families.
Colorado Choice Health Plans is a non-profit organization committed to our members and the community in which we live. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life through the delivery of health care coverage and programs to our members and our community.
